When you show up for your tattoo appointment, here are some things you should bring and may want to consider: - Your I.D. You will need to fill out paperwork and show proof that you are 18 years or older. We do tattoo and pierce minors -- but we don't perform all kinds of piercings and tattoos on minors of all ages. A lobe piercing on a child with a parent present? Sure; we want to keep kids safe from gross mall piercings . A face tattoo on a 10-year-old? That's obviously a no, my dawg. In addition, some artists do not work on minors at all. Please read more about underage piercings and tattoos here . - If necessary and convenient for you, shave the area where you are getting tattooed. This will save us both time (and save you the fun experience of getting shaved by another adult). - Bring some music that you want to listen to or something to watch on your phone. We may be able to even throw your selection into the shop’s line-up. However, in case we can't, bring something to entertain you. We will do all we can to make you comfortable, and you should, too. - Make sure to eat before you come, or come a little early and grab a sandwich from the nearby sandwich shop. Raised in a tough neighborhood where art was his lifeline, Adam leaned into creativity early. By 13, he was a published poet and eventually went on to host poetry readings and serve as president of his school’s fine arts committee. Despite the challenges of his environment, Adam found refuge in self-expression. He got his start in piercing through an unlikely chain of events. After working in jewelry sales under the mentorship of “Diamond Jim” — a Houston icon who taught him everything about jewelry quality, gem cuts, and presentation — Adam was pulled into piercing by his cousin, a tattoo studio owner. The goal: Keep Adam busy in the evenings after his day job and off the streets, where gang and drug activity were everywhere. Adam loved the new opportunity, and he jumped in blindly with gratitude and curiosity.  His early training was raw, unfiltered, and intimidating. There was no formal apprenticeship. Adam was thrown into the lion’s den with minimal training, pressure to perform, about 10 different “mentors” at once, and barely the right equipment. It was a brutal sink-or-swim initiation into the piercing world. And against all odds, Adam swam. Several years later, Adam attended a tattoo convention where he met Rob Hill , a renowned piercer who was showcasing his work while performing a sideshow act. Rob’s portfolio — multi-point piercings and high-concept work — was unlike anything Adam had ever seen. In that moment, Adam’s perspective shifted; he suddenly saw piercing as the true art form it is, with immense creative potential. It reawakened the same artistic pull Adam had felt as a kid writing poetry and painting. Piercing, he realized, was just a different kind of canvas. And he only just dipped into the palette. Over time, Adam honed his skills studying with other piercers/tattooists in Houston and built a philosophy rooted in safety, education, and empowerment. Neither are your library card, rec center pass, gym key card, or Fortnite wallet. Can I bring a friend or a parent?  For sure. Our private rooms mean you're not on full public display, and you can bring a loved one for comfort. This set-up is less stressful than being in a wide-open room with strangers. Parents are required to stay with minors. We have chairs and free coffee! Adam is doing a piercing Do you use a needle or a gun?  Always a needle. Never a gun. A needle is much safer, more precise, and gentler on the skin.    Why is needle piercing the better choice How long does it take to heal?  Lobe piercings usually take 6 to 8 weeks to heal. Don’t twist or touch  the jewelry unless you clean it with clean hands. (There are at least half a dozen signs around the shop saying "Don't touch your piercing!"
